MATTOT–MASSEI — Finishing the Journey: Faithfulness, Inheritance, and Preparing for the Promise Land

This week's double Torah portion, Mattot Massei(Mattot "Tribes" and Massei "Journeys"), ends the Book of Numbers.

The second generation of Israel now stands on the plains of Moab, just across the Jordan River ready to enter the Promise Land (Modern day Israel). The forty years of wandering are coming to an end, and a new generation is preparing to enter the Promised Land.

As Israel looks back over every victory, every failure, every wilderness camp, and every lesson learned in today’s readings, the Lord reminds His people that His faithfulness has never failed.

Every step of the journey has been under His care.

In a similar way, today our own lives are journeys. The Lord leads us through seasons of blessing, testing, correction, and growth, not to leave us in the wilderness, but to prepare us for the inheritance He has promised to all who believe in Him through Yeshua our Messiah.

Today's readings remind us that the Lord calls His covenant people to wholehearted obedience, complete trust, and faithful perseverance as He brings them into His promises.

Today we'll be reading from Numbers 30–36, Jeremiah 2–3:4, and Mark 11:12–25.
