JUST WHAT IS THE SABBATH? - Returning to the gift of the Sabbath.

What is the Sabbath? And does it matter for us today?

Isn’t the Sabbath only for Jewish people? Didn’t Jesus fulfill the Sabbath?

Didn't Paul teach that believers no longer have to observe it? Isn't Sunday the "Christian Sabbath?"

Is it possible that Biblical Sabbath has always been something so much greater than many of us as have been taught?

Sadly, many believers have never been taught the complete biblical story of the Sabbath. Some have only heard it described as an "Old Testament law." Others have been told it was "replaced" by Sunday. Some see it as a burden, while others assume it has no place in the life of someone who follows Christ.

But what if the Bible tells a different story?

What if the Sabbath was never intended to be a burden, but one of God's greatest gifts? A weekly rhythm that resets us, refreshes us, blesses us and draws us closer to Him!

As we study the Biblical Sabbath together, we will let the Bible tell the story. We will explore what it means to joyfully embrace the Sabbath today as new covenant believers, not as a means of earning salvation or God's favor, but as a gift from God, received by faith.

Our goal in this study is to rediscover God's heart. As we journey through Scripture together, we invite you to set aside assumptions, whether they come from tradition, culture, or personal experience, and simply allow God's Word to lead the way. If you are new to the Sabbath, welcome!

If you have questions, you are not alone. If you have objections, we will explore them together with grace and humility. May today’s study help us rediscover one of the Lord’s greatest gifts to humanity.
